Engagement Photos!

Kc and I had a lot of fun getting our engagement photos done this past Friday. I think he was a bit worried, unsure of what was to be expected, but we goofed around (a lot!) as we do and came out with some nice shots! Janie of Janie Moltrup Photography, a good friend of ours took the shots for us and did an amazing job at it! And luckily we got them finished before being drenched in the rain! Now I just have to pick out which ones we want to be edited and such but it's so hard to choose! Here are a few of my favorites:

I originally had no intentions of actually getting in the water until we were there and it just seemed like the obvious thing to do! We really didn't want to come off as posed or too serious because let's face it-we are just not those people. And I think the pictures really capture who we are as a couple. The water felt nice although my feet started to numb after about 20 min (and we both almost slipped and fell a few times!) but it was totally worth it and I love the outcome! Thanks Janie!

Inspiration Board

So I was inspired toady while reading Graphic Design USA magazine when I saw the Pantone Color Forecast for 2011. I have felt very frustrated trying to choose colors for the wedding. I'm a bit of a perfectionist when it comes to colors and color palettes and I have changed my mind about 100 times on what colors I want. Part of the problem was that I hadn't taken the time to sit down and experiment. So that is what I did for HOURS today (i have several mosquito bites bc I sat outside and once I had started there was no stopping). Here's what I've created:

Whaddya think? It may not be the final palette but I like it for now :)
Inspiration boards are great for getting your thoughts together and having something to refer to in order to keep a consistent theme. It is especially useful in the case of a wedding because you are generally planning for about a year or so!  Dessy has a really cool board maker with Pantone if you don't have InDesign or Photoshop. Plus they're really fun to make!

As always, Happy Planning!

The Hunt Begins!

I know, I know, I've been slacking. But I haven't forgotten- I've just been crazy busy! I visited Kc and Scout in New Jersey, and the day after I came home (I hadn't even unpacked) I was off again to an auction on the eastern shore which is a WHOLE other story. And not to mention a very eye opening experience.
But good news! Ready for it? I have made an appointment to begin the hunt! The hunt for my wedding dress! While visiting downtown, my mom and I stumbled across TLC Bridal Boutique. The lady (bc I unfortunately cannot remember her name) was very helpful in giving us tips and other information to help my search. I have come across a few dresses online that I really like and have helped me figure out what it is that I am looking for. Because although I have spent countless hours watching Say Yes to the Dress, when it really came down to it I just had no idea. But here are a few that caught my eye:

Vera Wang for Davids Bridal
I love the back of this dress (also David's Bridal) and the little shoulder straps. Since it is a barn wedding I want something fairly simple and doesn't look like a ball gown or is overwhelming. It will just look silly in the setting. And will be hot and uncomfortable in a venue without an air conditioning-hope it's not too hot!

Monique Lhullier Spring 2011
The last dress is a mere dream, because it is somewhere between 5 and 7 thousand dollars. It would be the most expensive part of our wedding (by a lot) which just feels a little absurd, personally. Especially when I know I can find a beautiful dress that I will love for less money. But I know I want a dress with a vintage feel-I want lace, buttons (I'm obsessed with buttons), preferably some kind of strap because I find it more flattering, and not satin- it's shiny and heavy. All in all I can't wait to try the first one on! Wish me luck! :)
